Big city dreams for a small-city boy

BGM: "Suddenly Last Summer" by the Motels
Wanting: Joan Jett & Martha Davis
Wearing:

Bah... Juno is taking hella long to get my internet access to me! I guess it serves me right for putting off on calling them... Anyhoo, update time!

Gay West was a total disappointment. I didn't get hit on by a single person... though I think one of my friend's ex's smiled at me in more than a "Hey, I know you" way. The crowds consisted mostly of older Baby-Boomer Queers and fags in their 30s trying to look like 17-year-olds.

We left the Lounge at approximately 5:00 in the afternoon. Fox, Matt and a whole assload of vegan baked goods rode with me. We arrive at the Old Tucson Studios shortly thereafter and proceed to throw down the EON booth. That, actually was the high point of the early-on, as ABSOLUTELY NOTHING worth mentioning happened until the concerts began.

At about nine-ish, a large group of people gathered by the main stage and awaited the performance by Joan Jett and the Blackhearts. Unfortunately, by that time, EON's sense of solidarity had gone to crap and we all dispersed. Fox ended up calling his mom to take him home, Matt went off to do some other stuff and I somehow ended up getting stuck with an underage EON participant who quite frankly, is really annoying. We go down to the stage where the performance is being held and I spot this way-cute Daily Star reporter who had come into the Lounge on Tuesday to do a story on queer youth. I smoothly position myself next to him and start rocking out to the soothing sounds of Ms. Jett and throwing the occassional glance in his direction disguised as a crowd-scan. Well into the concert, the EON participant (whom I'll refer to as 'Z') decides to throw a wrench into my groove and stands right between me and Mr. Reporter. Now, Z is about as subtle as Carrot-Top is charming, and the reporter soon picks up the vibe, gets creeped out and vanishes. All the while, I can only curse whatever it is that decided to pair me with Z. I know that he's special (in a short bus kinda way), but he has this "puppy-dog" complex that he has to glomp onto every hot piece of ass that comes by. And I know that I'm probably going to burn for even resenting him for that (especially if he's probably not aware of it), but I could've definitely used the self-worth points that my non-chalant flirting was garnering me. Besides, it wasn't like was expecting him to declare me the love of his life and whisk me away to his oceanside condo in Malibu or anything.

But I eventually lost Z, literally. He went off to the bathroom on his own and didn't return. I told Mikey (EON's head honcho), and he told me not to worry about it as he went off to find him. Unfortunately, I was not able to find the reporter again.

More blahness...

The Motels finally came on the stage at about 10:30-11:00 and totally rocked me out. I know that I was barely in existence when they were on the charts, but OMG are they ever cool. I declare Martha Davis my personal goddess. I now have to find their CDs online and buy them... and create more money problems for myself... Hmm, I think I should just placate myself by getting their greatest hits album. But oh yes, they were so awesome.

The Pride parade on Sunday was good, apparently. I didn't get to be in it like I had hoped, but I still had fun. I spent the most part of the day hanging with Fox, Shaunda and Bryce (Fox's in-limbo boifriend). We showed up to the after-party at the parade and then left when all of the drag shows were experiencing technical difficulties.

After all that, I'm all Prided out. Actually, because of it, I'm looking forward to OUToberFEST that's coming up soon. I know I probably shouldn't, but I have high expectations for that.
